My fascination with culture has made me see the beauty that lies in difference, bridging my own culture and mind with that of others. I came across these photographs that were taken in India during the Festival of Color!

The Festival of Color which is called Holi, is a popular Hindu spring festival that takes place in India, Nepal, Srilanka and countries with large Hindu diaspora populations, such as Suriname, Guyana, South Africa, Trinidad, UK, USA, Mauritius, and Fiji. In West Bengal of India andBangladesh it is known as Dolyatra (Doul Jatra) or Basanta-Utsav (”spring festival”). The most celebrated Holi is that of the Braj region, in locations connected to the god Krishna: Mathura, Vrindavan, Nandagaon, and Barsana. These places have become tourist destinations during the festive season of Holi, which lasts here to up to sixteen days. (Source: Wikipedia)

My friend asked me to post about this event being held at the American Cultural Center on January 13, 2010 from 6-9 pm. Organized by T-Square Magazine, a student based architectural magazine together with KASA and AIAS, “A Night For Architecture” will feature various architects and professions of the design field discussing, “Why Design – Cause and Effect.” It should be an interesting event. Check it out!

Now this is a cool ad by Canon! An all out game of war using Canon cameras. CANON Cameras were handed out to various people and many of their shots made it in the commercial. It feels like everyone in the video is playing tag with their cameras, and once your captured, you have to freeze! Very cool concept! I like!

When Art Happens

A group of 5 talented photographers displayed their uniquely crafted photographs in the Exhibition on the 24 and 25th of December. Each photograph had a distinct story or a creative approach that was dynamically phenomenal. Their exhibition was one of the few that truly uses art as a vehicle of personal and intimate expression in a society where expression can be limited. I congratulate and thank all the artists for displaying their craft and wish them all the best and luck….
